We had a fantastic stay at Settler's Cottage - Russell Cottages Collection. Matthew, the manager, was an absolute delight and made us feel so welcome. the cottage itself was lovely and clean, with everything we needed provided. the highlight was definitely the amazing shower! We enjoyed spending our time on the deck, admiring the beautiful bird life in the ancient forest just behind the cottage. the location was perfect, just a short 2-minute walk to town, where we found plenty of restaurants, shops, and cafes. the waterfront was also easily accessible. We would definitely return for another stay!
Nothing, it was perfect! 😊.

The three bedrooms with two full bathrooms plus an additional ground floor toilet were just perfect for our stay. It felt like we had all the space we needed, and it made getting ready in the mornings a breeze. As low-budget travelers, we really appreciated the convenience and value for money.
I personally found the lack of a swimming pool a bit disappointing. However, I understand that others may not prioritize this feature and still enjoy their stay.

I had a fantastic stay at the hotel. The staff were really friendly and made me feel welcome. The cottages were very clean and well-maintained. The hotel facilities were excellent, and I particularly enjoyed the spaciousness of the living area and the well-equipped kitchen. The hotel is located in a beautiful, private setting with lovely landscaped gardens. I had a great experience and would definitely recommend this place.
There were a few drawbacks during my stay. There were some loud and disruptive guests staying next to me, which disturbed my peace and quiet.

The cottage was spacious, modern, and well-maintained. The campus layout was outstanding, with each cottage feeling separate and private. The host, Matthew, was efficient and friendly. The pool and spa were enjoyable, even in cooler temperatures. we had a great stay and would highly recommend Russell Cottages.
Felt completely relaxed, no complaints at all.

Great Place to Relax and Unwind: Our stay at Russell Cottages felt like a real home away from home. We loved the fully equipped kitchen, perfect for our self-catering needs, and the private balcony where we could enjoy the morning sun and watch the world go by. The separate lounge and dining area were spacious and cozy, and the gas log fireplace made for cozy evenings. Truly the perfect base for our Bay of Islands trip.
Bathroom heating issue.

lovely decor, spacious & modern appliances. very clean & nice to come back each day with beds made & kitchen tidy. within walking distance to russell centre, comfortable beds and an adequate kitchen. wonderful gas fire, kept everything warm and cosy. immaculate property and good quality furnishings. went at end of winter so didn't try pool, but looks like a good place for the summer. managers very pleasant and helpful and free wi-fi daily.
Lack of privacy on patio/verandah.

The cottages have a fully equipped kitchen, private balcony, and access to Netflix. Wow, who needs a personal chef when you can cook your own food and binge-watch your favorite shows?
I just loved how there was no air conditioner, because who needs to be comfortable when you can sweat like a pig all night? So refreshing!

We were pleasantly surprised by our overall experience at this hotel. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, and the cleaners did a great job keeping our cottage tidy. The cottage itself was gorgeous, with nice decor, modern appliances, and a spacious layout. We especially loved the comfortable bedroom and large living area with a gas fire. The well-equipped kitchen was a bonus, and the landscaped gardens provided a lovely atmosphere. The location was perfect, just a short walk to the charming town of Russell.
Just one small thing that could be improved - the breakfast options. It would have been great to have a wider variety of choices for the morning meal.
